Version 8 for CNC Routers

3D CAD translator example

August 14, 2008 - SigmaNEST’s Windows Vista® compatible version 8 software boasts new and improved functionality for router machines. Specifically, SigmaNEST’s Router module, combined with the technology of a CNC router, offers high-efficiency nesting, superior part quality, and significant control of standard router-cutting features.

SigmaNEST offers seamless direct importation of parts and/or assembly files from 3D CAD programs with automatic recognition of partial z-depth within 3D models. By using the continuous nesting feature, companies can optimize the balance between production throughput and material yield. Additional features, such as grain matching, can maximize end product results.

By setting multi-pass cutting by contour, SigmaNEST can reduce machine run time. Improvements in machine time and reduced part movement can be attained by utilizing ramp lead-in tabs (onion skin tabbing) in the software. In addition, by applying ramp up lead-in and outs to parts, SigmaNEST minimizes tool and spindle wear. Multi-pass cutting features allowing for step down cuts that are configurable per tool also increase tool life and part quality.

Another key element in production is vacuum hold down efficiency. SigmaNEST offers a variety of techniques for this, including advanced NC logic for spiral inward cutting. Implementation of a customized tool cutting order can optimize part quality and vacuum hold down efficiency. In addition, multi-pass by nest offers the ability to increase vacuum efficiency.

SigmaNEST also offers support for automatic and manual cutting for multi-head machines and recognition of partial depth and part edge for auto pocket destruct. For more information on SigmaNEST’s Router module, please contact sales@sigmanest.com or call 513-674-0005.
